SJ 02 - Strokes

SJ 02a

There are many types and ways to shade a picture to make it more realistic or even solid.
Therefore, strokes are used to enhance the sketches or drawings.
These are a few types of strokes that we were taugh during class hours.

The strokes are ;-
1) Zig-zag
2) Cross Hatching
3) Pointillism
4) Continuous
5) Short strokes
6) Scribble

I decided to use only one object to show the clear difference between all the strokes.
The object is a gemstone.

There is a clear difference between all the different strokes applied to the same object
as a few strokes makes the gem looks more realistic compared to the others.
Therefore, the strokes must be carefully applied to suit the object that we are drawing.

SJ 02c
In this exercise, we were asked to apply different types of stokes into our drawing and understand the methods well.

 2.1 Wolf
In this picture of the wolf, I have applied 2 strokes that is cross hatching and short strokes.
The short strokes are used to give the wolf a furry texture, while the cross hatching helps to give the effect of shadows.

2.2 Carving
For this wood carving, I only applied the stroke of pointillism as it gives the wooden carving a great solid effect, and it makes the object smoother.

2.3 Picture Frame
For this picture frame, I have applied 3 types of strokes which is zig-zag, continuous, and scribble.
Continuous stroke is used to make the outline of the object, scribble to make the figures, and zig-zag as shadows. Although all 3 strokes are applied, only scribble is more obvious compared to the other strokes.

2.4 Scenery
This picture of a scenery is a perspective drawing with the combination of strokes. All strokes except continuous are applied into this picture to bring out the soft effect of nature and also the texture of other objects.
